Why visit

  • Tsuno is a mountain town in central Kochi, in the valleys between the coast and the Shikoku mountains. It is quiet country, with forests, small fields and settlements along the roads, and it is known for its old shrine.
  • The shrine at Tsuno is one of the older religious sites of the region, with a main hall and a precinct in the trees, and it draws visitors from across Shikoku. The town around it is small, with a few shops and public buildings, and the mountain roads lead on towards Niyodo and the interior.
  • Tsuno is on the JR Dosan line, between Kochi and the mountains, which makes it a stop for anyone travelling inland, and it is a good place to see the quieter side of Kochi.
