A practical English guide to Onna in Okinawa: the beaches, the reefs and access from Naha.

Operational details such as opening hours, admission fees, and train times can change. Prefer official pages and reconfirm before you travel (sources checked on 08 November 2026).

Why visit

  • Onna is a village on the west coast of Okinawa’s main island, between Naha and Nago, and it is one of the main resort strips of the island. The coast faces the East China Sea, with hotels, diving shops and beaches along route 58.
  • Cape Manzamo is the best-known viewpoint, a cliff of limestone above the reef, and the village also has quieter coves, diving sites and inland roads through sugarcane. Behind the resorts there are still farms and local shrines.
  • Onna is a practical base for beach time without staying in Naha, and it is close enough to the north for day trips to the more remote coasts.
