A practical English guide to Yuni in Hokkaido: the flower garden, the dairy farms and access from Sapporo and New Chitose.
Operational details such as opening hours, admission fees, and train times can change. Prefer official pages and reconfirm before you travel (sources checked on 07 November 2026).
Why visit
- Yuni is a small farming town in central Hokkaido, south of Sapporo in the Yubari district, and it sits on a plain of fields and dairy farms with the mountains rising behind it. It is a place of wide views, straight roads and big skies, the kind of landscape that defines the interior of the island.
- The town is known for its garden, a large flower garden that opens in the warmer months, and for the dairy and vegetable farms around it. The garden is the main reason most travellers stop, but the farmland and the quiet roads are just as rewarding.
- Yuni is close enough to Sapporo and New Chitose airport to be a half-day detour, and it works well as a stop between the city and the mountains of Yubari and Furano.
