Why visit
- Yoshinogawa is a city on the Yoshino river plain in Tokushima, west of Tokushima city. It was formed from several farm towns, and it remains a landscape of rice fields, vegetable plots and small centres linked by straight roads and embankments.
- The river is the spine of the place. Embankments, bridges and irrigation channels define the views, and the surrounding hills of the Shikoku mountains rise to the south. It is ordinary rural Shikoku, quiet and practical rather than scenic in a postcard sense.
- Yoshinogawa is close to Tokushima city, which makes it an easy half-day by car or local train for anyone wanting to see the farm side of the prefecture.
