Why visit

  • Kazuno is a mountain city in northern Akita, near the borders with Iwate and Aomori, in a highland basin of forests, rivers and hot springs. It is known for the onsen of Yuze and Oyu, and for a quieter version of the Towada highland country.
  • The city is spread along the valleys, with a station, roadside stops and roads that climb towards Lake Towada. It is a place for bathing, driving and walking rather than sightseeing monuments.
  • Kazuno is reachable from Morioka and Hachinohe, which makes it a stop for anyone crossing the northern mountains of Tohoku.
