Why visit
- Kurashiki is a city west of Okayama, known for the Bikan historic quarter of white-walled storehouses and willow-lined canals. The district grew from the rice trade of the Edo period and now holds museums, cafes and craft shops.
- Beyond Bikan the city is a modern industrial and commercial centre, with a large station and easy links along the Sanyo line. The contrast between the canal streets and the ordinary city is part of the place.
- Kurashiki is one of the most visited towns in Chugoku, and it works as a half-day or overnight from Okayama and Hiroshima.
