Why visit

  • Kudamatsu is a city on the coast of Yamaguchi, on the Seto Inland Sea between Shunan and Hofu. It is a port and manufacturing town, with a busy harbour and a station on the Sanyo line, and it is one of the industrial cities of the Seto coast.
  • The city is not a conventional destination, but it has a waterfront, a small centre and a history that goes back to the salt and shipping trades of the Inland Sea. The port is still working, and the coast and the islands beyond are within reach.
  • Kudamatsu is on the Sanyo shinkansen and the Sanyo main line, which makes it an easy stop between Hiroshima and Yamaguchi, and it is a place to see the working coast of the region rather than a resort.
