Why visit
- Takahama is a small town on Wakasa Bay in western Fukui, at the western end of the Obama line. It is known for its beaches and clear water, and for a quiet harbour life that feels far from the cities of Kansai.
- The town is compact, with a station, shops and roads that run along the coast towards Obama and Maizuru. In summer the beaches draw visitors from Kyoto and Osaka; in other seasons it is mostly local.
- Takahama is a good stop for anyone travelling the Wakasa coast who wants swimming and seafood without the crowds of the bigger resorts.
